FaxRush - Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

I am a single user. Is FaxRush for me?
No. FaxRush is for network installations. Single users who need powerful fax marketing can use FaxRush, but it is too complex for ordinary use.

We have 95 users on our network. Only 25 of them use the CRM system. Can we use FaxRush?
Yes. FaxRush will give complete CRM integration for the 25, and can be used by the other 70 for general purpose print-to-fax and
fax receiving.

If FaxRush is set up with DID (direct-inward-dial), non-CRM users can even receive their faxes as email automatically. If DID is not used, faxes can be emailed to one person, auto-printed to a laser printer, or manually forwarded as email by a receptionist.

Internet Fax FAQs

Why should I use Internet Fax?
Mostly to save the cost of a fax board and phone lines. Internet fax is easy to set up, and is completely hardware-free, so the up front cost is lower. Also, internet fax is great for broadcasting because it can pump out thousands of faxes an hour. Note that the Internet Fax feature of FaxRush is for outbound faxing only.

How much does Internet Fax cost?
The over the counter rate is $0.08 cents / page for US domestic faxing with Easylink. With Easylink, you pay only for successfully transmitted pages. High volume sites can negotiate a discount from these rates (sometimes by as much as 50%). Note that to be used with FaxRush, the Easylink account must be set up through Z-Firm's OmniRush corporate billing application. There is no cost for this, simply request the application be emailed to you.

NOTE: As of April 2009 - all new Easylink customers will be charged a $100 minimum monthly fee. This means if you use less than $100 of faxing per month you will be charged $100 per month. Anything over $100 and you will be charged the appropriate rate for your volume.

Brooktrout Board FAQs

Can't I just use a fax modem?
No. FaxRush only works with Brooktrout boards and Internet Fax. Fax modems are simply too high maintenance because they refuse to talk to certain fax machines. The effort of dealing with those cases far exceeds the cost of a TruFax board.

What is the difference between the TruFax and the TR1034?
Click here for the TruFax vs TR114 comparison by Brooktrout (the TR1034 has everything the TR114 has, plus more).

The TruFax is an entry level board. It is low cost, but it lacks advanced error correction and compression features. That means it can be susceptible to noisy phone lines, and that it can take it longer to send a fax page. In practice, the TruFax is ideal for sites sending and receiving up to 1000 pages / month. (While there are sites that do more than this with the TruFax, if volume is significant, the investemt in a TR1034 is worthwhile.)
