Software Coexistence

OmniRush Server

Below are listed some popular software combinations.  Note that these applications can all coexist on one network, the only issue is that certain combinations on a single PC may be problematic.  Also note that in some cases (e.g. GoldMine Everywhere Server), the other software publisher (e.g. FrontRange) has specified that their software should run on a dedicated system.  Running several server applications concurrently on one PC can tax the system hardware, and in some cases can conflict.  The list below is for known combinations.

Note: Z-Firm recommends that existing production systems have a restore-able image created (using a tool like Ghost) before installing OmniRush or any other software on production systems.

[1] Watch overall system loading when using a single PC for OmniRush and SQL Server.  If either the SQL Server or OmniRush will be heavily loaded they should have dedicated PC's.

[2] OmniRush v5.1 and higher should be able to coexist with Exchange v5.x and higher.

[3] OmniRush has been run on the Microsoft CRM server in both SBS and regular Win2000 and Win2003 environments.  For production environments, check for sufficient hardware resources.

[4] BDE resources may need adjustment to allow concurrent operation. Heavily used systems may find that BDE resources are taxed to the point of forcing the system to be dedicated.
