Brooktrout: New Style TruFax &
TR1034 Installation
Note: Only
the OmniRush driver kit may be used with OmniRush. No
other Brooktrout drivers should be present on the OmniRush Server PC.
Never use
any driver installer other than the OmniRush driver installer.
Never use a Brooktrout driver
kit from Brooktrout or any other source. It will not
work, and will make a mess that must be resolved before the correct drivers
can be installed. If
such drivers are on the system, remove them according to the corresponding
documentation. Then
reboot the system, and continue with these installation steps.
The Dial Board Identifer
should be set to '2' for a one-board
installation. A second board would be set to 3, and so on.
Many TR1034
boards are full-length
PCI boards.
They require
a PC chassis that has room for a full-length board, and excellent airflow
over the boards for cooling. Generally this means that a server-class
PC must be used (which is not necessarily expensive... the Dell 400SC
/ 420 SC models are cheaper than many desktops).
See the reference chart to determine if a TruFax board is Old or New
Steps on Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 2003:
Check that the phone lines have dial tone and can make outbound calls both locally and long distance (actually dial some numbers and confirm your calls go through)
Install the OmniRush Server software
Shut down and power off the system
Open the PC chassis and find an empty slot
Check the board itself. Check the dial selector on the board (the Dial Board Identifier). This should be set to '2' for a one-board installation. A second board would be set to 3, and so on.
Physically install board(s) in the server (follow the documentation supplied with the Brooktrout board related to physical installation in the PC)
Connect phone lines to the board
Boot up the system.
Windows should prompt 'New Hardware Found' after booting up. Press Cancel
