Windows Terminal Server

Z-Firm advises that the "server" system in a ShipRush UPS Pro environment not be installed on Terminal Server.

ShipRush will work without special tweaks on Terminal Server, however follow these guidelines.

Single User operation: No special preparation necessary. For installation, be sure to be logged in as an Administrator equivalent, and use  the 'change user /install' option prior to starting the ShipRush installer

For Multi-User operation: Client installation: Same as above. For the first installation (which installs ShipRush Server), it is recommended that this be on a PC other than the Terminal Server PC.

Install the ShipRush Client when logged in as an Administrator equivalent, and with the 'change user /install' option.

After installation, run ShipRush, enter your ShipRush serial number.

Use ShipRush.

Note that ShipRush is licensed on a per-user basis. If 5 different Terminal Server users will use ShipRush, five copies of ShipRush are needed.

Note that ShipRush stores its configuration files (.ini and other files) in a central, "all users" location. This location is the same for all users on the system. The main implication is that certain settings (for example, the printer to print labels to) will be the same for all users of ShipRush on that terminal server system.

Advanced Configuration for Terminal Server

The following information is for advanced system administrators. It is not supported by Z-Firm Technical Support.

The registry can be used to instruct ShipRush where to store its configuration files. ShipRush checks the registry for the leaf value:

ShipRushConfigFilePath

Two areas of the registry are checked (in this order):

HKCU\SOFTWARE\Z-Firm LLC\ShipRush v7\Installation
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Z-Firm LLC\ShipRush v7\Installation

The element: ShipRushConfigFilePath

may contain either:

a) The full hard path to use

or

b) A path that includes %USERPROFILE%

Note: ShipRush interprets %USERPROFILE% to point to %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\

Note: No other environment variables are supported in this registry key. Only %USERPROFILE%

For example,

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Z-Firm LLC\ShipRush v7\Installation\ShipRushConfigFilePath

could contain:

%USERPROFILE%\ShipRushConfigFiles\

And then each user would have individual ini files in this location:

c:\documents and settings\<username>\application data\ShipRushConfigFiles\
